Question
I've set up my school and courses, but cannot find the parent access codes to distribute to my students' parents. Help!
Answer
Have you added students to the course? Until a course has a student enrolled, the option to generate parent access codes will be grayed out. Once you've added students, you can locate the parent access codes link in the Members area of your course.
Question
When I try to download, I receive the following error message: Parent access codes cannot be downloaded for inactive courses.
Answer
This issue can occur if there is no active grading period associated with the course or if the grading period has not yet begun.
To check if there is an active grading period associated with your course:
- Navigate to your course.
- Click Grade Setup in the left menu.
- Click Edit next to Grading Periods & Final Weights to see the date range of your grading period(s).
Once there is an active grading period associated with your course, you will be able to download Parent Access Codes.
- See this Help Center article for more information about grading periods.
- Enterprise: If your grading period has not yet begun, reach out to your Support Contact for alternate methods of distributing Parent Access Codes.
