How to Reset Parent Access Codes (System Admins)

Note: This article is for System Administrators in Enterprise districts only. For parents with basic accounts that need to change parent-child associations, see this article.

If you accidentally provide a student’s Parent Access Code to the wrong parent, or if there has been some other error in the distribution of Parent Access Codes, it is important that you reset the codes to prevent unauthorized access to student information. You can reset an individual student’s Parent Access Code, or you can reset all the Parent Access Codes in bulk.

Step 1 — If a parent account is already linked to the wrong child, you will first need to remove the association.

Access the Manage Users area of User Management:

  1. Click Tools in the header at the top of Schoology.
  2. Select User Management.
  3. Click Manage Users on the left.

To remove the parent/child association for a specific student:

  1. Click the Parent/Advisors tab.
  2. Search for the student by entering the first name or last name in the search field in the upper-right.
  3. Locate the student and click X to the right of the parent's name.
  4. Click Save Changes at the bottom of the page to confirm.

To remove all parent/child associations:

  1. Click the Parent/Advisors tab.
  2. Select all users by checking the box in the header row, next to First Name.
