Import a Course
Schoology supports the following course exports from external systems:
- Moodle 2+ (ZIP or MBZ)
- Blackboard (ZIP)
- Brainhoney (ZIP)
- Common Cartridge (IMSCC)
- QTI Version 2.0 (ZIP)
- Angel (ZIP)
To import a Moodle, Blackboard, Brainhoney or Angel course export file, or to import Common Cartridge or QTI content:
- Click Resources in the top menu.
- Click the down-facing arrow in the left column and select Import.
- Select the correct export platform.
- Select whether to import to a new collection or an existing collection.
- Name the collection if you're creating a new one.
- Click Next, and upload the file to Schoology.
- Click Import to complete.
How do I use course content in Resources in a Schoology Course?
Once you have imported your course into Resources, add the Moodle, Blackboard, Brainhoney, or Common Cartridge content into the course:
- Create a course.
- Click Add Materials.
- Select Import from Resources from the drop-down menu.
- Select the Resource Collection that contains the course content.
- Check the box to select all items and folders, or select specific items and folders for import.
- Click Import to complete.
Import Tests
Schoology also supports the following test/quiz exports from external systems:
- Blackboard 7.1-9.0
- Edmastery
- ExamView
Note: To import ExamView questions you must first export them to the Blackboard format, and then select the Blackboard option above.
To import a test/quiz:
- Go to the course to which you want to import the test/quiz.
- Add a test/quiz to the course.
- Click the Add Questions button and then select Import Test/Quiz.
- Select the system from which the file was exported.
- Click Next, and upload the file to Schoology.
- Click Import to complete.
Troubleshoot Issues
If the import is successful, a green success message displays at the top of the page. Check the imported content for any issues or discrepancies. If you experience any difficulty, contact our Support team by submitting a support ticket. In the ticket, include the following information:
- A copy of the file that you'd tried to import into Schoology.
- The type of file you'd tried to import (e.g. Moodle, ExamView).
- Any error messages.
- The browser on which you're experiencing the issue (e.g. Google Chrome, Safari, Internet Explorer).
